Assesses four language skills (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking) Aligned with the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) levels 1 – 8. Click here for more information on CLB. Assessment done is a valid Government Document Recognized by other agencies and services.  To be eligible for a CLB Assessment one must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, Landed Immigrant, Refugee Claimant, Convention Refugee, Visa (Student, Employment or other), Ministers’ Permit, (any case type). All CLB Assessors are experienced teachers, TESL certified and CLB certified in various tools. Assessors are re-certified every two years by the Canadian Language Benchmark Centre in Ottawa. Clients wanting to attend ESL, PSW, ESL CREDIT and HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT Classes must see a CLB Assessor from St. Charles Adult Education Centres to determine current language proficiency and specific needs    Program Supervisor: Susan Friscolanti Program Principal: Bob Goodwin   Clients will be assessed and placed in class according to their level. The ESL program offers a variety of classes from Levels 1 - 4 and specialty classes such as: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) requires CLB Level 6 Credit English as a Second Language (ESL) requires a minimum CLB Level 3 Secondary School Credits requires CLB Level 6 Personal Support Worker (PSW) requires CLB Level 5 All immigration categories are welcome at St. Charles Centres. Certified assessors also administer language assessments for entrance to other training programs by appointment only.
