Our Mission and Vision
 St. Charles Adult & Continuing Education
strives to be a Catholic Centre of Excellence serving the lifelong learning
needs of our adult community, providing high quality and innovative
programs, delivered by a well trained and knowledgeable staff,
through dynamic academic and business leadership.
Our mission and vision, as teachers and educators,
is to enable all learners to realize the fullness of humanity of which
our Lord Jesus Christ is the model, and to provide a learning environment
that reflects the Christian ideals of social justice, respect and fairness
for all.
St. Charles’
success lies in its ability to identify and respond to the changing educational,
employment and training needs of adult learners in our community. In a
recent labor market study, 41% of local employers identified ‘employability
skills’ as a training priority. St. Charles has long recognized the
need for workplace skills and over the past few years has adapted its
programming and curriculum to the workplace.
St. Charles Adult & Continuing Education Centres’ philosophy is one of
inclusiveness. Our programs are geared
to people of all ages, and cultural, socio-economic and religious backgrounds.
Our Catholic Continuing Education identity, outlined in a companion document
to the system-wide Learning with
Faith: Our Catholic School Identity, enables
us to reflect on and celebrate our Catholic distinctiveness while providing
educational services that are respectful of the special needs, cultural
and religious diversities, gender, and potential of individual students.
