General Information

  • For secondary students to upgrade mark or earn new credit.

  • Available to secondary school students (Grade 8 students are not eligible)

  • Available to adults as well.

  • Grade 9 students eligible to repeat grade 9 credit courses only

  • New credit programs are 110 hours

  • 55-hour courses will be completed in 10 days

  • We may need to change course times and/or locations, cancel courses or limit enrolment

  • Courses may be dropped prior to the mid-term report only. After that time, the Ministry disclosure policy will be in effect.

  • Prompt, daily attendance is expected

  • Students who incur more than 3 absences in a full credit course and 1.5 absences in a half-credit course will be withdrawn.

Secondary Summer Credit Program Fee/Deposit Information

  • Refunds only for cancelled courses. 

  • A book deposit of $75 is required for most courses (cheque only), payable first day of class. 

  • The deposit cheque will be returned when the student returns the book

  • Please make cheques payable to “St. Charles”.

 Visa Students

  • Visa students taking new credit course (110 hours) are required to pay a $1881 fee per course.  

  • Visa students taking an upgrade course (55 hours) are required to pay a $945 fee per course.  

  • Visa students to pay by cash or certified cheque only, payable in full at registration. 

  • Visa students must register at the site only.  


Summer Childcare

  • For children from birth to 5 years of age

  • Available at St. Thomas More Children's Centre, 905-318-7676

  • Also available at  Cathedral Children's Centre, 905-522-7376

  • For more information, please contact the children's centres.

Religion

Chaplain services are available at each school. A school religious celebration will also be offered as a community.

Coop/OYAP 

  • A co-operative education credit focused on the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program 

  • Offered only at St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School subject to demand.

  • Available to students of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board only.

Course Information

Types of Programs

  • Grade 9-12 Upgrade (Retake) Credit Courses
    Available to current grade 9-12 students who failed with a mark of 40 or higher. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 1:50 p.m.  Students may enroll in one course only.  Note that upgrade courses are identified with "u" (instead of "1") on the report card.

  • Grade 9-12 New Credit Courses
    Available to current grade 9-12 students taking the course for the first time and those students who failed the course with a mark lower than 40. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. Students may enroll for one course only.

  • Grade 10-11 Transfer Courses
    Students can only take Applied to Academic in the following courses: English, Mathematics and Science. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 1:50 p.m.  Students may enroll in one course only.

Note: All Summer School classes are subject to demand and staffing (min. 20 students per class).
